For 10 years, the Episcopal Diocese of East Tennessee has been blessed by a relationship with our sister diocese of Kondoa, Tanzania. Bishop Given Gaula, fondly known as Babba Askofu, along with his wife, Rev Lilian Gaula, understand that the people of this mission diocese most likely will never be able to see the world beyond their villages. Thus Babba Askofu wants the world to come be with his people. Babba wants his people to know they are a part of the wider body of Christ.  A pilgrimage to Kondoa is life changing for the pilgrim as well as for the people of Kondoa.

Elizabeth Colonna serves as the communication coordinator between our diocese and Kondoa; along with her daughter Morgan Colonna, they will share more about this relationship and encourage you to prayerfully consider taking a pilgrimage in the future!
