With the removal of Maus from McMinn Co., Tennessee, schools, people from across the nation are sending copies of this book to community partners in the area, including St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Athens. With the high volume of books expected, Mtr. Claire Brown encourages folks to support other avenues of community literacy and learning, particularly the E.G. Fisher Public Library in Athens (fisherlibrary.org) and Let’s Read 20 Athens (www.facebook.com/ColorfulBus). These are organizations that support children and youth education apart from the county school system and can use your support!
St. Paul’s was also featured in an Episcopal News Service article.
St. Paul’s member Whitney Kimball Coe was interviewed on CNN about the removal of the book. As a contributing author to the Daily Yonder, Coe also called for the support of local leadership over raging about the removal.
