Hi, I’m Bishop Brian, and we are in the last couple days before we will gather virtually for our diocesan convention on Saturday, February 6th. Along with our delegates, I wanted to make everyone aware of all the ways in which you can participate and engage this weekend. Our diocesan convention worship will drop on Sunday morning at 10:30. You can follow that on Facebook or YouTube or go to dioceseconvention.org. This is a Eucharist for Sunday, February 7th. April Barons, director Grace Chattanooga will be preaching. I’ll be presiding. And it’s a chance to share convention Eucharist with the whole diocese. Also, my Bishop’s address will be found on dioceseconvention.org. This is an address that I’ve already recorded from St John’s, Johnson City. And while it will be important for delegates to hear it, it really is intended to be a message to all of East Tennessee. So I want you to participate as well as you see fit.
Also know that our convention theme this year is connecting communities in Christ. As we come out of 2020 and continue to see signs of some progress with vaccines related to COVID, we are hopeful that 2021, as we move further into this year, will give more opportunities to be together in ways that will still be safe, but it will allow us to have more engagements in person. We are planning for a summer camp at Grace Point if that seems right and feasible at the time. Obviously we will make a call if necessary, not to do that, but we are at least making steps in being able to have some kind of in-person camp, knowing that all those sorts of plans are conditioned on vaccine rollout and overall public health guidelines as we get closer to late spring and summer.
What a joy and what a gift it is to be your Bishop. It’s hard for me to believe this is my fourth convention with you as we continue to serve together. We are looking forward to seeing you virtually on Sunday and on Saturday and look forward to a weekend together and a year together in 2021. Blessings on you.
