On the third Sunday of Advent at St. James, Knoxville, more than 30 prayer shawls were given to children as an expression of love for them. The shawls were made with the colors of the seasons of the church year. More than 20 of these were made by Mother Mildred Teets. “We pray that, in these somewhat difficult times for children and families, they may feel the love of Christ and St. James surround them, as surely as the shawls encircle them,” said Sharon Teets in a Facebook post about the shawls. Teets expressed gratitude for the many who helped with the shawls, the gracious recipients of them, and for the quiet and faithful witness of Mother Mildred Teets, as well the blessing of Mother Teets “partner in crocheting crime,” Fasia Massaquoi.
