Dear East Tennessee Friends,
On Friday, December 9th, Willis Duke Weatherford III, who went by Will, died in Black Mountain, North Carolina. Will is Susan’s only brother. Susan, her three sisters, and all our extended families are grieving this death.
On Sunday, several members of the Weatherford family gathered in Black Mountain on the family property at Far Horizons, the home which Susan’s grandfather built in the 1940’s. We made and shared a big meal, told stories about Will, and took a walk down to the barn and the creek. At present, we are supporting Will’s children as they make plans for his burial and memorial service.
James Finley has written, “God protects us from nothing, but unexplainably sustains us in all things.” The Weatherford family is living in the truth of these words right now. Your prayers for Will and all of us who loved him, both family and friends, are already sustaining us. Thank you for the support we have already experienced from you. Your continued prayers for us and all who mourn in these hard days, where grief and grace reside so closely together, are life-giving.
Peace,
+ Brian
