Recently retired South Carolina priest, the Rev. Peter Munson, has embarked on a walking journey from Charleston, South Carolina, to San Francisco, California. The journey is in support of a calling – to walk across the country to raise money for four non-profit organizations that do great work for children. The project is called, “6 Million Steps for Kids,” approximately the number of steps it will take to walk from Charleston to San Francisco. The journey began March 4, and he will be walking through East Tennessee in April. Peter’s goal is to raise $1 per step for children’s non-profits.
He would welcome opportunities to speak about the project (in a church, school or ministry), a place to lay his head in the evening, and any folks who would like to walk along with him for any portion of his journey (a few steps or more as desired).
He will be walking through several cities where our churches and schools are located: Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Knoxville, Farragut, Loudon, Sweetwater, Athens, South Cleveland, Ooltewah, Chattanooga, Lookout Mountain. Munson’s route through our diocese is represented by the red dots on the slice of his route map above. He will also be walking in Sewanee. He anticipates being in this area April 15-May 2.
Peter’s route is on the 6 Million Steps for Kids website – click on “The Route.”
