Grace Episcopal Church in Chattanooga was one of six congregations to win a national award for climate leadership with projects ranging from solar panel installations to the restoration of natural habitats. The awarding institution, Interfaith Power and Light, awarded each of the six congregations $1000 for their work.
Grace, known for its Level II Urban Arboretum, has planted over 70 native tree species, 60 native shrubs, and dedicated over 40% of the property to pollinator habitat. In addition, the property boasts a community garden with dedicated private beds, a community u-pick vegetable garden for all to access, as well as eco-friendly maintained lawns and gardens, the highlight of which is their cloister garden.
Congratulations to the Grace community on this achievement. Be on the lookout for more news from Grace, Tennessee Interfaith Power and Light, and the Diocese of East Tennessee as we live into our call to be good stewards of creation.
