Hi, Bishop. Brian, I want to update you on ministry here in the Episcopal Diocese of East Tennessee. Tyson House is our campus ministry center, located on the campus of UT Knoxville. For the last several years, it has been very much an intentional Episcopal and Lutheran work. I’ve recently called the Reverend RJ Powell to serve as full time campus pastor there.
He will begin those duties on June 1st. For the last several years, RJ has served as an associate priest at St James Episcopal here in Knoxville. On May 22nd, which is a Sunday at 6:04 p.m. at St John’s Lutheran here in Knoxville, there will be a chance to celebrate the Ministry of Tyson House. This will include also a chance to give thanks for the Reverend John Tirro, a Lutheran pastor who for the last several years has served as the campus pastor at Tyson House.
So I would encourage you, if you have an interest in what has been and what is or what will be at Tyson House to join us again on Sunday, May 22nd 6:04 p.m. to give thanks for this important and vital Episcopal Lutheran witness on the campus at UT Knoxville. I’m grateful for Father John, grateful for Father RJ and for all that lies ahead.
We continue to be a church open to all and willing to be ecumenical as we reach out to young people on the campus at UT. Join us on May 22nd. Thank you.
