Bishop Brian Cole announces the beginning stages of our next diocesan convention under the theme of “Equip Disciples”. At this time, churches may pay for their delegate registration and certify their delegations, visitors may register to attend, and volunteers can sign-up to be on the most fun and best part of convention! After a season of listening to clergy, parish leadership, convention delegates, and you, our diocesan community, we published A Vision and Mission for East Tennessee: A Study and Reflection Guide on the 2025 Diocese of East Tennessee Strategic Visioning Results. Your Bishop & Council and diocesan staff then took the vision and mission statements as inspiration and programmed the next four years of convention on the themes of: Equip Disciples, Grow & Be Grounded, Love of Neighbor, and Love of Creation. In the coming weeks, we will have more information on offerings on this year’s theme of “Equip Disciples”.
At this time, we are accepting delegation certifications and registrations as well as visitor registrations. In mid-November, the nominations and resolutions process will open for submissions. If you are feeling the Volunteer spirit, consider whether you might want to join the volunteer team to help welcome and greet attendees, organize meals, help with technology, and any other number of thing. Hi, I’m Bishop Brian.
This is my formal invitation for us to begin the process of preparing for our February 20 and 21st 2026 Diocesan Convention. On Friday evening, we will gather for worship. We will have a great preacher in the Right Reverend Phoebe Roaf from the Episcopal Diocese of West Tennessee. She will be our guest preacher on Friday, February 20th at Church of the Ascension. On Saturday, February 21st, we will gather for business and other matters at the Episcopal School of Knoxville. Last year, you helped us shape a vision and mission statement for the Diocese. We’re now ready to begin to enact all that work.
So this year’s theme, Equip Disciples, is the first part of that work that you helped us shape last year. So thank you, thank you for that work, and now come prepared to help us equip disciples and to go deeper into our mission and vision as the people of the Episcopal Diocese of East Tennessee.
At the end of this video, you will see how to engage in the process of registration and participation in Convention. You can also go to the website, dioceseconvention.org, and know that there are all kinds of ways for you to participate, either as a delegate, as a visitor, as a participant in somehow in pre-convention gatherings, or there for the worship or for the business. Hola, soy el obispo Brian.
Esta es mi invitación formal para que comencemos el proceso de preparación para nuestra Convención Diocesana del 20 y 21 de febrero de 2026. El viernes por la noche, nos reuniremos para el culto.
