Dear East Tennessee Episcopal Community,
We are saddened to share the news of the death of three members of our East Tennessee community.
Nancy Kaebnick Mott died on Tuesday, December 9. Nancy was a prominent member of the East Tennessee Episcopal community, especially at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Knoxville, where her father was once the priest-in-charge and where she served as a lay eucharistic minister, vestry member, and senior warden. She was also a vital force for the Integrity chapter in East Tennessee, witnessing to the Episcopal Church’s growing inclusivity. A service will be planned at a later date and we will keep the community posted on announcements. Please keep her wife, Linda Minton, and the Mott family in your prayers. James Moore, father of the Rev. Michele Simmons, died on Friday, December 12. A private family service will take place at a later date. Please keep Rev. Simmons and her family and friends in your prayers.
Jane Bolinger Scott, mother of the Rev. Marshall Scott, died on Saturday, December 13. Jane was an active member of Church of the Resurrection, Loudon. She and her husband were also once members of Church of the Ascension, Knoxville, and active in supporting the work of diocesan convention under the episcopate of Bishop Tharp. A service will be held at Church of the Resurrection on Monday, January 12, with visitation in the fellowship hall at 10:00 am and a service at 11:00 am in the nave. Please keep Rev. Almighty God, our Father in heaven, before whom live all who die in the Lord: Receive our siblings into the courts of your heavenly dwelling place.
