The Welcoming Prayer Retreat
November 22 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
$15

Many of us devote time to study, worship, prayer, meditation, and contemplative practices, and we often emerge from these periods of time feeling refreshed, renewed, and at peace. Then a few minutes later our phone rings, or we look at our to-do list, or unexpected demands arise, and the chaos of our daily lives quickly disrupts that sense of peace and connection to God. The Welcoming Prayer is a method to help bridge those two realities.
The Welcoming Prayer is a contemplative practice that helps us get more in touch with God’s will in the present moment. It is a brief, silent prayer that can be done during devoted periods, or practiced throughout the day as the need arises. Under the guidance of our presenter, Daniel Roop, we’ll learn about the history of the prayer, the method of the prayer, and have time to practice silently together. Daniel is a seventh-generation East Tennessean and a member of Church of the Good Shepherd. He is a commissioned presenter of Centering Prayer through Contemplative Outreach and is passionate about sharing these life-giving practices whenever given the opportunity.
The cost to attend is $15 and includes a boxed lunch. Scholarships are available. Please RSVP to richardcarter179@gmail.com.
