Good Sam, Knoxville’s Sunday Morning Sacrament in the Wild

The first installment of the SMSW (Sunday Morning Sacrament in the Wild) will be on November 9th at the Middle Prong Trail in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Participants will meet between 8:00 and 8:30 am at the Townsend Wye parking lot. Departing at 8:30 am, they will carpool to the Middle Prong Trailhead.

The hike distance / difficulty will be hiker’s choice. The initial hike will be 1 to 1.5 miles before stopping for the service. After that, the rest of the journey is hiker’s choice – they can turn back to the trailhead or continue on. The hike to Indian Flats Falls will be 8 miles round-trip. Those anxious for more can walk further in and out OR complete a 14.5 mile loop with Lynn Camp Prong, Miry Ridge, and Panther Creek.

This is a great opportunity to experience a spiritual adventure with fellow parishioners. Remember that they will leave the parking lot at the Townsend Wye at promptly 8:30 am and head to Middle Prong Trailhead. For those meeting at the trailhead, please be on the trail at promptly 9:00 am. Trailhead parking is limited. Also, please keep in mind that the park now requires the purchase of a parking pass. Those can be found in kiosks throughout the park or at any visitor’s center. They can also be pre-purchased online here.
