Knoxville, Tennessee — The recent St. Luke’s, Knoxville, Chess Camp was a tremendous success, bringing together youth, parents, and community leaders for an exciting full-day experience centered around learning, creativity, and personal growth through the game of chess.
Participants enjoyed a day filled with chess instruction, friendly competition, interactive activities, and opportunities to build confidence both on and off the chessboard. Experienced chess instructors and community mentors guided students through lessons focused on strategy, critical thinking, problem-solving, patience, and decision-making skills.
Parents expressed their appreciation for the positive environment and the meaningful experiences provided for their children. The camp created a welcoming space where young people could develop new skills, form friendships, and discover the lifelong benefits of chess.
“Chess is more than a game — it teaches young people how to think ahead, evaluate choices, and understand that every move has consequences,” Hallerin Hilton Hill. “Our goal was to provide an experience that encourages youth to become thoughtful decision-makers in chess and in life.”
The all-day event also highlighted the power of community partnerships and the importance of providing educational opportunities that support youth development. Through the dedication of volunteers, instructors, parents, and supporters, Chess Camp demonstrated how a shared passion can bring people together and inspire the next generation.
Organizers are grateful to everyone who helped make the event a success and look forward to expanding future chess opportunities for area youth.
